Applications for Smartgroup Foundation’s annual grants program will open on  11 August 2025, with up to $250,000 to be awarded this year to Australian-based initiatives that drive meaningful social and environmental impact.

Organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status are invited to apply for grants valued between $5,000 and $15,000 for projects or programs aligned with one or more of the Foundation’s three key focus areas:

  • Natural climate solutions and decarbonisation technologies
  • Inclusive and equitable communities
  • Financial wellness and education

Sophie MacIntosh, Chair of the Smartgroup Foundation, said this was the 7th year that the Foundation had offered grants, with more than $1 million awarded since the Foundation was established in 2019, benefitting over 100 community projects.

“We are excited to once again open our grant program to organisations working tirelessly to create a better future for Australians,” Ms MacIntosh said.

“Whether it's restoring native habitats, supporting mental health and wellbeing, or empowering disadvantaged communities through education and financial literacy, we want to help amplify their impact,” she continued.

“We encourage eligible not-for-profit organisations to submit projects that demonstrate strong alignment with the Foundation’s focus areas and a clear potential for positive, lasting change.”

Applications close on  29 August 2025.

In 2024, the Smartgroup Foundation donated nearly $250,000 across 21 charity projects, including funding for a koala sanctuary in the Whitsundays, climate education in the Bellingen Shire, dental-health education for young refugee women in South Australia, and a program supporting survivors and those at risk of family and domestic violence in Western Australia.

“Smartgroup is committed to positively contributing to the communities in which we live and operate. Each year, we are inspired by the passion and innovation of our grant recipients. Their stories remind us of the power of community and the importance of supporting grassroots efforts that make a real difference,” Ms MacIntosh said.
