Collective accountability, transparency and integrity
Establishing solid foundations in sustainability is a key focus for Smartgroup. This means taking responsibility for the impacts of our business and embedding robust sustainability governance into how we operate as a business.
Sustainability governance
Our approach to sustainability and our performance against our sustainability commitments and initiatives are overseen by the Board and its sub-committees, including the ESG Committee. This Committee ensures that we operate our business ethically, responsibly and sustainably. It also ensures that we communicate transparently to our stakeholders about our policies and our progress as a leader in corporate responsibility and sustainability.
Our executive team have direct responsibility for sustainability, while a Sustainability Working Group has responsibility for implementing the initiatives in the sustainability strategy and monitoring progress.

Modern slavery and human rights
For our supply chain partners, we have policies in place to drive positive changes beyond our direct operations:
- Our Human Rights Policy was endorsed in 2023 and informed the development of our Human Rights and Modern Slavery Roadmap in 2024.
- Our 2025 Modern Slavery Statement details the actions taken to date to assess and address modern slavery risks, and our plans for future action.
Ethics and integrity
Our approach to ethics and integrity is guided by processes and policies including:
- Our Code of Conduct was updated in 2025. This reflects our ongoing commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability, and brings our new values to the forefront of our decisions and behaviours.
- Our Speak Up Policy encourages employees and external stakeholders to report actual or potential instances of misconduct without fear of reprisal.
- We also have other policies and procedures in place around anti-bribery and corruption, disclosures, risk management and ethics. Learn more.
Enhancing our sustainability reporting and disclosures
We are continuing to mature our approach to sustainability reporting and our climate-related disclosures:
- Updates on our progress and performance under the sustainability strategy are reported annually. For 2025, we continued to voluntarily report in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. Our sustainability reporting is contained in our Impact Report (previously called our Sustainability Report) and our Sustainability Data Book (which includes our GRI Content Index).
- We are making progress on implementing our sustainability reporting roadmap to uplift climate reporting capability and disclosures to ensure compliance with the mandatory Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards for our 2027 reporting. These climate-related disclosures are contained in our Annual Report.
- We have published the results of a qualitative scenario analysis of our climate-related risks and opportunities in our Annual Report. We are continuing to embed our approach to managing climate risks and opportunities within our business, which will include further quantifying those most material to our business.

Our 2025 Impact Report and Sustainability Data Book are prepared in line with the GRI Standards and highlight our progress to date.
