Our Social Impact

Creating positive social impact

As Australia’s leading provider of salary packaging and novated leasing, we have a unique opportunity to deliver positive social outcomes through strengthening the financial wellbeing of customers, clients and the communities in which we operate.

We are also committed to driving more inclusive and accessible outcomes for all Australians through the commitments and initiatives supporting our people, customers and communities.

Our commitments to delivering a more inclusive future and driving positive social impact are detailed in our Sustainability Strategy 2028: An Empowered Future.

Enhancing financial wellbeing for customers

We are committed to delivering education, tools and financial solutions that empower Australian workers to get more from their pay - more savings, more value and more money in your pocket. Our ambition is to help even more Australians access the financial benefits of salary packaging.

Investing in our communities

We’re passionate about positively contributing to the communities in which we live and operate in. Each year, the Smartgroup Foundation awards up to $250,000 to Australian-based initiatives that drive meaningful social and environmental impact. The Foundation has awarded $1.5 million since it was established in 2019, benefitting over 120 community projects.

Our community investment decisions are guided by our Social Impact Framework, which ensures funds are allocated to driving change in three key areas:

  • Climate change action
  • Improving the life of marginalised groups and individuals
  • Improving the financial wellness and career opportunities of Australian workers

Our reconciliation journey

Within the communities we engage with and beyond, we're committed to strengthening our connections and contributing to the reconciliation movement. Our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), endorsed by Reconciliation Australia and released in January 2024, guides our efforts to take measurable steps that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We have committed to developing and publishing a second Innovate RAP following the conclusion of the current plan.
