The Federal Government has introduced the Electric Car Discount Bill to take effect for all eligible new EVs purchased after 1 July 2022, or for second hand EVs first registered after 1 July 2022. This policy helps reduce the cost of purchasing an EV.
What this means
The discounts will be available to all-electric vehicles below the luxury car tax threshold ($84,916 in 2022-23). Any applicable import tax has been removed. The exemption from FBT applies to electric cars financed under a novated lease. Find out more here.
