Smart, Australia’s leading salary packaging, novated leasing and fleet management business, has appointed Michael Ford as its New South Wales State Chair.
Michael is one of corporate Australia’s most experienced business leaders. He has served as Chief Financial Officer of News Corp Australia, Group Chief Financial Officer of QBE Insurance Group and Deputy Chief Financial Officer of Commonwealth Bank of Australia. He is also an experienced Company Director in a range of industries.
Smart’s State Chairs provide strategic advice and help connect government, businesses and working people to salary packaging, novated leasing and fleet management, helping employers look after their teams, free up capital locked in fleet and generally operate more efficiently.
“I’m honoured and excited to be working with Smart and my fellow state chairs, continuing to help employers across Australia support their workforce through practical employee benefits,” Michael said.
“At a time when businesses are under pressure and people are looking for ways to make their pay go further, salary packaging, novated leasing and fleet management have an important role to play.”
Smart CEO Scott Wharton said, “Michael has been a leader in some of Australia’s largest businesses and sat on the boards of others. He understands the pressure employers are under to make their organisations successful while looking after their people.”
“Smart is on a journey to expand our benefits network and make it easier for more employees to access more value through their salary. Michael will help tell that story and listen to major employers across NSW to ensure we are delivering what they need to succeed.”
Smart serves more than 600,000 customers across more than 3,300 employers nationally, manages more than 91,600 novated leases and 36,200 fleet vehicles.
Michael joins Smart’s other two state chairs Marion Fulker AM, Smart’s Western Australian State Chair, and Jane Jeffreys AM, Smart’s South Australian State Chair.
