Applications for the Smartgroup Foundation’s annual grants program will open on 10 August 2026, with up to $250,000 to be awarded to Australian based not-for-profit organisations delivering community projects that drive meaningful social and environmental impact.
The Smartgroup Foundation was established in 2019 by ASX-listed Smartgroup Corporation Ltd. Today, Smart is Australia’s leading provider of salary packaging and novated leasing, supporting employees across the government, health, education and not-for-profit sectors.
Organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient 1 (DGR-1) status are invited to apply for grants valued between $5,000 and $15,000 for projects or programs aligned with one or more of the Foundation’s three key focus areas:
- Natural climate solutions and decarbonisation technologies
- Inclusive and equitable communities
- Financial wellness and education
Sophie MacIntosh, Chair of the Smartgroup Foundation, said this was the eighth year that the Foundation had offered grants, with around $1.5 million awarded since the Foundation was established in 2019, benefitting over 120 community projects.
“We are excited to again be offering our grant program to community-based organisations working tirelessly to create a better future for Australians and our environment,” Ms MacIntosh said.
“Whether it's restoring native habitats, supporting mental health and wellbeing, or empowering disadvantaged communities through education and financial literacy, we want to help amplify their impact,” she continued.
“We encourage eligible not-for-profit organisations to submit projects aligned with the Foundation’s focus areas and which demonstrate potential for positive, lasting change.”
Grant applications close on 28 August 2026.
In 2025, the Smartgroup Foundation donated nearly $250,000 across 20 charity projects, including cooking and life skills programs for WA veterans at risk of homelessness and disadvantaged young people.
Other recipients delivered first aid training in WA schools, women’s services in inner Sydney and Adelaide, nutritious meals for a First Nations community in Far North Queensland and intensive care tanks for sick and injured sea turtles on the NSW north coast.
“Smart is committed to positively contributing to the communities in which we live and operate. The passion and innovation of our grant recipients highlights the power of community and reminds us how grassroots initiatives can make a real difference,” Ms MacIntosh said.
