Empowering Our Communities

Standing alongside our communities

Our philosophy has always focused on supporting not just our clients but also the communities in which they operate. Each year, we support and explore ways to stand alongside our community and various charitable organisations.

How our team members make a difference

In addition to our regular commitments, we are always finding new ways of getting involved and driving change within the community, including:

  • Empowering our Smartgroupers via Make a Difference (MAD) Days, two paid days per year when they can lend a hand to our environment, community, or a charity close to their heart
  • Helping to bring awareness to gender equality by celebrating International Women’s Day
  • Raising vital funds for worthwhile causes through internal events (including STEPtember, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Jeans for Genes Day)
  • Providing scholarships to employees working across our client partners to assist in critical career development

Sustainable Business Practices

A key part of our approach to good corporate citizenship is supporting the communities in which we live and operate and finding meaningful ways to reduce negative environmental impacts.

Our operations and supply chain

We actively engage with small to medium and large suppliers locally, regionally, and nationally and review the environmental and human impacts of our day-to-day operations and supply chains. In 2021 alone, we sourced goods and services from over 2,500 suppliers, predominantly supplying goods and services within Australia.

Tackling climate change

Smartgroup completed its first externally audited carbon footprint analysis in 2021 and is now working towards adopting a comprehensive Sustainability Strategy, incorporating detailed initiatives and targets across our business. Reducing modern slavery risks

Smartgroup does not tolerate or support the use of forced or compulsory labour, and we extend this approach through all areas of our supply chain. We have set up a strong risk management and due diligence framework to identify and address any risks of modern slavery within our supply chain.
