Levelling the playing field: Smartgroup backs women in sport

In a move set to advance women’s rugby at a national XVs level, Smartgroup has partnered with the new Buildcorp Super W competition, as well as backing Australia’s national XVs women’s team, the Buildcorp Wallaroos, as a major partner.

“We are proud to partner with Rugby Australia as they carve the pathway for aspiring women rugby players to the national XVs team,” says Dave Adler, Smartgroup Senior Executive and the driving force behind Smartgroup’s enduring partnerships with the Queensland Reds and V8 Supercar Champion, Jamie Whincup.

In the announcement made today with Rugby Australia Head of High Performance - National XVs programs, Adrian Thompson, Adler applauded Rugby AU’s commitment to a domestic women’s competition that will facilitate the development of Australia’s best talent.

“We’re very excited to the see the Buildcorp Super W uncover the next Shannon Perry or Mollie Gray as the Wallaroos prepare for the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2021.”

As part of its strong commitment to gender diversity (Smartgroup company, Autopia partners with UN Women Australia to raise awareness of inequality and drive gender diversity in the workplace), Smartgroup leapt at the opportunity to be involved with Buildcorp Super W and the Buildcorp Wallaroos.

“We’ve been looking for the right opportunity to partner with organisations advancing women’s sport and when the Buildcorp Super W competition was announced in December, we saw our opening. We’re proud to be contributing to the growing professionalism of these very talented female rugby players.”

The six-week season features 12 round robin matches with teams from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, ACT and Western Australia. The season kicks off this Saturday at Suncorp Stadium with the first of four doubleheaders, and all games will be broadcasted live on Fox Sports.
