For the third year in a row, Smartgroup is pleased to announce that we have been named an Inclusive Employer by the Diversity Council Australia (DCA) which is an award that has only gone to 47 employers.

Diversity-ER-21-22_New_Cropped.pngOur passion and commitment to promoting diversity and difference is something that we’re immensely proud of, so we’re thrilled to be recognised for the work that we’re doing to become Australia’s most people-centric and customer-focussed employee management services company.

Being recognised as an Inclusive Employer by DCA means that our team members have confidence in Smartgroup to treat them fairly and that our organisation is demonstrating a genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

As part of the approval process, we took part in DCA’s Inclusion At Work Index to benchmark our diversity and inclusion results against the Australian workforce and other participating DCA members, and over time, help measure our progress in creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Using data from employees across a range of demographic backgrounds, the index analyses the level of inclusion in the Australian workforce and in leading diverse and inclusive employers. This provides valuable insights into the benefits which inclusion has on the performance and wellbeing of employees.

To be recognised as an active and committed Inclusive Employer by DCA, Smartgroup was required to invite at least 65% of our employees to participate and achieve results which would exceed the National Index Benchmark on a minimum of five out of six of the following measures:

  1. Awareness
  2. Engagement
  3. Inclusive Organisation
  4. Inclusive Leadership
  5. Inclusive Team
  6. Exclusion

In addition to the index, we also conducted an internal engagement survey. Our team members rated us at an average of 90% for diversity and inclusion in this survey (25% above the ANZ top quartile). It’s rewarding to see that our team thinks we are performing strongly in this space as inclusion is a powerful benefit to our organisation. It creates an improved work environment which enables our organisation to excel in customer service.

It’s important that our culture reflects the diversity of our customers and markets, and that we value individuals for who they are so that we can learn from each other’s unique views and experiences. Our workplace thrives when it’s gender-balanced, diverse and truly inclusive, so we’re proud to see that our efforts in this space have been recognised by the DCA.
