This initiative aims to empower Australian educators in low ICSEA schools and their primary students in Years 3-6 with the resources to integrate functional literacy with sustainability. The program will enhance students’ functional literacy skills and their engagement with a range of sustainability topics including environment and climate solutions.

Fauna Rescue Whitsundays

Koala sanctuary outdoor enclosure
Fauna Rescue Whitsundays is a long-standing, non-profit, voluntary, wildlife rescue organisation covering a large region of the Whitsunday/Mackay-Isaac areas. They care for, rehabilitate and release sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife. This funding will support building a multi-purpose animal shed within a fenced off enclosure, equipped with a medical treatment room and sick bay for infectious animals.

Oz Green

Rethink Waste Bellingen Shire
A waste reduction and education community project that partners with major events to reduce waste and raise awareness. Their volunteers help direct event patrons to sort their waste at the events, redirecting waste away from landfill, and inspiring community members to change their habits around waste.

Southern Koala and Echidna Rescue

Improving Revegetation Outcomes
Their mission is to ensure South Australia’s native wildlife continue to enjoy a quality life in the wild by providing advice, advocacy, rescue and rehabilitation services, specialising in the rehabilitation of koalas and echidnas. This funding will support the purchase of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) to significantly improve revegetation efforts and maintaining biodiversity and native flora and fauna.

Able Australia

Able North Active and Engaged Project
This project will help 20 people with disabilities in Victoria, including those with deaf blindness, engage in community activities. The initiative includes excursions to Melbourne's Zoo, Aquarium, and Museum, as well as sports days with accessible equipment, aiming to enhance inclusiveness, build friendships, and improve quality of life.

Accelerated Evolution – The Break Inc

A Culturally Sensitive Family Violence Program for Aboriginal & NESB Men
The Break Inc is a mental health, addictions and wellbeing recovery provider. Our program focuses on addressing the root causes of family violence by helping those who use violence, often due to their own trauma, addiction, or mental health issues. By using a tailored, empathetic approach that includes anger management, addiction treatment, and addressing financial stress, they aim to break the cycle of violence.

Australian Dental Foundation

Healthy Smiles for Young Refugee Women
Healthy Smiles for Young Refugee Women will provide dental care and education to some students at River Nile School in 2025, aiming to improve their oral health and confidence. By offering preventative and restorative treatments, the program will help these young women avoid emergency dental visits and preserve their natural teeth.

Backpacks 4 SA Kids Inc

Home Starter Packs
Backpacks 4 SA Kids provides an innovative and niche support to families displaced predominantly by domestic violence by supporting them with a Home Starter Pack. The grant will provide over 35 Home Starter Packs at $400 each, which will be distributed to primarily mums with children who have escaped a violent home relationship.

Big Little Buddies

Intergenerational Music Programs
This initiative addresses isolation and poor mental health in aged-care residents by fostering meaningful relationships with preschoolers and caregivers through weekly music-based intergenerational programs. The program, held at two aged-care centres, benefits all participants by enhancing social connectedness and mental health, and is facilitated by qualified educators using music that resonates with both generations.

Delta Therapy Dogs

Reducing loneliness & improving social connectedness
The Delta Therapy Dogs program aims to improve community wellbeing and connectedness by addressing loneliness through regular visits from our therapy dogs. Beneficiaries include vulnerable people in hospitals, residential aged care facilities, mental health services, disability services, dementia wards, palliative care services, schools and other community groups.

Endeavour Foundation

Trikes to Thrive: Cycling for Empowerment and Inclusion
Endeavour Foundation plans to introduce a cycling program at five regional Learning and Lifestyle hubs, benefiting over 140 participants with disabilities by providing 15 tricycles and helmets. This initiative aims to enhance skills, independence, and healthy lifestyles, offering a safe and inclusive way to enjoy physical exercise and boost confidence.

Banksia Gardens Community Services

Broady Bikes
The Broady Bikes program offers around 20 traineeships annually to disadvantaged youth in Broadmeadows, teaching them bike restoration and repair skills. This initiative aims to improve employment prospects, financial stability, and physical and mental health, while also promoting community bicycle infrastructure and reducing automobile use and landfill.

MoneyMob Talkabout

Supporting First Nations Australians experiencing hardship in Adelaide
MoneyMob Talkabout is a not-for-profit organisation that empowers First Nations people to achieve economic wellbeing and self-determination. Through this initiative, they will work with Anangu residing in or visiting Adelaide to achieve more financial stability and wellbeing, and develop longer-term capability to better manage their financial circumstances which will help them survive as they adapt to urban life.

Open Pantry
Open Table is a not-for-profit organisation focused on increasing food security, social connection, and reducing food waste through inclusive food-sharing events. The Open Pantry project provides free meals and fresh food to vulnerable residents in Melbourne's inner north, aiming to reduce food insecurity and social isolation by offering accessible community resources.

Tradeswomen Australia Community Foundation

Pathway to Trades - Supporting Women to Succeed Scholarships
Tradeswomen Australia Community Foundation (TWACF) award scholarships to girls, women and non-binary individuals who are experiencing financial hardship and other challenges in their lives. These scholarships will enable recipients to continue with their apprenticeship or commence their training, easing the financial stress they are already experiencing which is exacerbated by the ongoing cost-of-living pressure.

St George Sutherland Community College

Wealth Warriors
Wealth Warriors provides financial wellness and education workshops tailored to at risk youth, 15-17 years, to create and maintain inclusive and equitable communities. They empower young people to reignite their passion for learning, creating pathways from our courses in business into further education and/or employment opportunities, and challenging long-term disadvantage caused by lack of educational studies. 

Patricia Giles Centre for Non-Violence

Smartriders for women and children escaping FDV
This project aims to purchase pre-paid Transperth Smartriders for women and children escaping family and domestic violence (FDV), providing them with access to safe transport options. This initiative will help them attend appointments, school, and other activities, fostering independence and confidence as they rebuild their lives.

The Gold Foundation Incorporated

'Shine Like Gold!' Mobile Cafe
This project aims to provide young autistic people with paid employment opportunities, helping them develop practical business skills and a sense of purpose. The grant from Smartgroup Foundation will support the creation of a sustainable, scalable employment pathway that addresses labour shortages and supports the vocational goals of young autistic individuals.

Kingston Neighbourhood House

Kingston Repair Cafe
This initiative teaches community members how to repair, recycle, and reuse items, promoting sustainability and cost savings. With the help of Smartgroup Foundation’s grant, the cafe plans to expand through workshops and a mentor program to further educate the community on sustainable living and repair skills, reducing landfill and fostering social interactions.

Mercy Community Services Ltd (MercyCare)

The SAAFE Program (Sharing Advice and Advocacy for Empowerment)
The SAAFE Program aims to support Family & Domestic Violence (FDV) survivors and those at risk through education and early intervention, employing two full-time advocates to assist approximately 600 women over two years. The program provides practical information on safety, financial independence, and connects women to culturally appropriate support services, with additional bilingual and childcare support to ensure accessibility.

Cancer Council NT

Cool Kids Science - The UV Science Program
The program aims to raise awareness about UV safety and sun exposure by using interactive science concepts and UV-sensitive beads to educate kids on the dangers of UV radiation. Through fun experiments and practical sessions, students will learn about sun protection and create their own UV bead wristbands as personal UV detection devices.
